The file travels on an encrypted channel between the two browsers. The server never sees it.
The link is WebRTC. The channel is encrypted with DTLS. No middle server can read the file.
Only the room code, the device name, and connection setup (SDP and ICE). Those notes expire in about a minute. File bytes are not stored.
Local mode uses local addresses only. The file does not leave the local network.
A direct link is preferred. If the network blocks it, an encrypted relay forwards packets. The relay cannot decrypt DTLS, so it cannot read the file.
The person you pair with is the recipient. Share the code only with them. Do not open a code you do not expect.
